Who doesn't love teddy bears? These classic toys for children of all ages date back to more than a century ago. They were named after former President Teddy Roosevelt, as he appeared in bear form in a cartoon. The first teddy bears were produced by a few Brooklyn store owners in 1902. Since then, major toy manufacturers all over the world have produced teddy bears of all kinds. Vermont teddy bears are a particularly popular brand. The Vermont Teddy Bear Company was set up in 1981. It started off small scale, by selling handmade teddy bears out of a cart at an outdoor market.
Eventually, this company began shipping teddy bears to customers all across the country. This so-called Bear Gram was advertised on a popular New York radio station. After a bit of clever marketing the company reached its yearly sales goal in two days. Well the rest, as they say, is history. Fast forward to today, and the state of Vermont is just as famous for its teddy bears as it is for its maple syrup and fall foliage. Not hard to see why, since so many kids and adults love these cuddly teddy bears. The bears are soft, fuzzy and cute. They also come have a wardrobe to suit any imaginable occasion. They make great gifts for your loved ones or even for yourself. These bears are very collectible, with adults loving them as just as much as kids.
